Position Title: K-12 Values-Aligned Supply Chains Intern

Position Description This position resides on our Programs team and reports to the Senior Coordinator of Supply Chains. The K-12 Values-Aligned Supply Chains Intern will support Chef Ann Foundation’s (CAF) work to drive sustainable food supply chain outcomes in school meal programs, including CAF’s Values-Aligned Purchasing Collectives (VAPC) program.
What are VAPCs? A VAPC, including cooperatives, buying groups, or other group purchasing mechanisms, is a mechanism for K-12 SFAs to work together to advance the shared values of both school districts and food suppliers by leveraging the collective buying power of school districts and fostering supply chain collaboration to enhance access to and establish fair pricing for values-aligned (e.g., local, organic, regenerative, humane, small-scale, minority-owned) foods. Key Responsibilities
● Program Administration
○ Provides administrative support, including detailed note-taking, records maintenance and management, developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and documentation, etc.
● Event Coordination
○ Supports the planning of a 2-day in-person California VAPC Network gathering.
● Data Collection and Analysis
○ Supports the collection, cleaning, and analysis of school district procurement data for VAPC Technical Assistance and program evaluation.
● Values-Aligned Product and Supply Chain Research
○ Supports the Senior Coordinator of Supply Chains in researching and collecting data on values-aligned products in the K-12 marketplace that could service CAF partner districts. The Chef Ann Foundation is a 501c(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing healthy, sustainable, and equitable school food. To date, we’ve reached more than 16,000 schools and 4.4 million kids in all 50 states with our programs.
Intern Qualifications: Interest and/or experience in food systems, school food, supply chain, procurement, and education.
Ideal Candidate: Interested and engaged, self-directed, clear communicator, ability to learn and navigate new technology platforms quickly, detail-oriented.
Approximately 20 hours a week (remote)
