Position Title: Digital Engagement Intern (KGNU Music Department)
Host Organization: KGNU Community Radio – An independent, noncommercial community radio station licensed in Boulder and Denver and dedicated to serving its listeners.
Position Summary: KGNU seeks a community-focused Digital Engagement Intern in the Music Department for Summer 2026. In this role, the Digital Engagement Intern will engage with various dimensions of KGNU’s community radio and nonprofit services, contributing to our vibrant music department and enhancing our online presence. You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in a dynamic local media environment, working on a diverse array of projects, including social media management, content creation, campaign planning, audio content production and editing, and web feature creation. This position offers a dynamic learning experience and the opportunity to contribute to the growth of our music department's digital footprint. The successful applicant will be based at KGNU’s new Boulder Community Media Center and studios, located at 1720 14th Street, and will work remotely as well. Responsibilities include: Social media content design/creation, management, and campaign planning on various social media platforms (may include Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.). Editing on-air KGNU Music interviews and studio sessions. Creating web features for KGNU Music Interview and studio sessions, including audio uploads and transcripts. Writing, voicing, recording, and editing promos, spots, etc. Regular music department social media post design, creation, and posting (Top 30 Music Charts, KGNU Presents listings, etc.) Social media event creation and management.
Qualifications: Creative thinking Strong organizational skills Proactive and self-motivated Experience in social media content creation/design (preferred) Experience in graphic design (preferred) Proficiency in audio editing suites (Audacity, Audition, or similar) Proficiency in Word or Google Suites Excellent written and oral communication
The ideal candidate will have a good attitude, curiosity for learning, attention to detail, interest in learning new skills, and good time management skills. We want someone who also understands the importance of community media outlets like KGNU and wants to make a difference in their community through their work with us.
on-site: This internship will require recording on studio-quality equipment, which will require being at KGNU. Other parts of the internship can be done remotely (social media posting, design, editing, etc.), so part of this internship can be off-site.
