School Food Reform Intern (CU PIIE)

School Food Reform Intern

Description
Through this internship you will:
• Gain experience working with a small non-profit in a variety of areas (marketing, grant writing, fundraising, and program-based work).
• Select projects based on areas of the foundation you are most interested in.
• Be an integral part of a small team that works collaboratively and values all team members' opinions.
• Learn about school food operations and what goes into creating a successful scratch-cook operation.

Major Responsibilities:
• Work with our Director of Online Programs to support the marketing of the School Food Institute.
• Conduct research and analysis of the current online learning market.
• Work with our Marketing Coordinator to produce content for our blog, The Lunch Line.
• Create content for a database that highlights our Project Produce grantees.
• Assist with planning and implementing Real School Food Challenge fundraising events.
• Research recent studies related to school food, farm-to-school, and childhood wellness.
• Update existing web content and post new web content to the Chef Ann Foundation and The Lunch Box websites.
• Explore potential funding opportunities that align with our mission and goals.
• Assist with grant and funder reports as needed.
• Support other marketing, event planning, and programming projects as needed.
• Must be able to provide own transportation to our office as necessary.
• Must have his or her own computer and phone for use throughout the internship.

Qualifications
Internships with Chef Ann Foundation are designed to enhance the digital media presence of the foundation, support the development of our school food programs, and assist in fundraising initiatives. It is important for our interns to have strong writing skills and be able to articulate research findings, interviews, and the foundation’s work in an easily digestible and clear manner. Please be aware that you will not work directly with children for this internship.

Knowledge and Qualifications:
• A passion for health and strong interest in childhood wellness.
• Bachelor’s degree or undergraduates in their Junior or Senior year preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task and complete projects related to various programs.
• Skilled in research and communication of research findings.
• Well-versed in social media.
• High level of computer proficiency including but not limited to; Microsoft Office Suite, video conferencing, and webinars.
• Experience working in website back-ends a plus.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
