Description
This is an opportunity to gain experience in a number of areas involving development review and zoning administration, land use planning, and grant administration.
•Candidate must have strong research and analytical skills.
•Candidate must have basic understanding of planning principles and knowledge of land use planning
•Candidate must possess a valid class D driver’s license.
•Candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills. The ability to read, speak and write English clearly as this position interacts with City staff, City residents, contractors and sub-contractors.
• Assist in reviewing minor land use applications for proposed residential, commercial and industrial development in the City.
• Assist in reviewing various building permit applications for compliance with applicable zoning and subdivision ordinances and regulations of the City, including planned unit development and special review use terms and conditions.
• Research issues, prepare reports, correspondence, and memoranda.
• Assist in coordinating land use actions with City departments, special districts, and applicable federal, regional, state, and local agencies.
• Provide research and recommends updates to sections of the Louisville Municipal Code.
• Conduct research to provide demographic information for current and long range planning.
• Perform fieldwork pertaining to zoning code enforcement as well as site inspection in coordination with the issuance of Certificates of Occupancy.

Qualifications
Students in environmental design, architecture, urban and regional planning, urban design.
