Data Analysis and Scientific Writing Intern

Description
Environment for the Americas (EFTA) has gathered considerable data on migratory shorebirds, foraging hummingbirds, and the impact of fire on birds. We're ready to explore these data and to prepare articles and papers for publication. This intern will use their statistical skills to analyze data, so that we can explore a variety of questions. Each analysis will be presented to the public through our various websites and will be used to begin preparation of research papers. Day-to-day tasks will include data review, analysis, literature review, and writing. There may be some opportunity to be in the field, depending on interest.

This intern will play an important role in the analysis of data gathered through our research at Environment for the Americas. Specific activities will include: 1) organizing data as needed 2) applying statistical analysis 3) literature searches on the topic of study and 4) assistance in the writing and construction of a publication for a peer-reviewed journal.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should have the following experience:
1) strong attention to detail
2) experience using Excel and managing spreadsheets
3) good reading and writing skills
4) data visualization skills - the ability to develop charts and graphs
5) ability to handle confidential data responsibly
6) ability to generate insights from the data

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, a critical thinker, good team player, organized, and a problem solver.
