Agency Description
The Communications Technology Laboratory (CTL) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking an intern for the Strategic Communication office.
Description of Position
The intern will be involved in the day-to-day operation of marketing, strategic communications and governmental affairs. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute to refreshing our messaging, growing our stakeholder engagement and gain an understanding of communicating to elected officials the importance of funding science and technology R&D. The intern will work closely with the Communication Specialist to draft messages and emails to target audiences, refresh webpages and graphics, and assist in writing publications for academic and popular audiences.
A specific project with ownership responsibilities will be developed in collaboration with the intern with consideration of the intern’s skills and goals.
Qualifications
Strong writing, messaging, and social media skillset.
High technology agility with office productivity suites, web design, and Adobe Creative Suite. Flexibility, creative-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Self-starting individual with the ability to conduct tasks under remote supervision.
Interest in the federal government’s role in innovation, entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and crowdsourcing solutions.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
