Member Engagement and Non Profit Admin Internship - YMCA of Northern Colorado - Boulder (CU PIIE)

This internship is part of the CU Public Interest Internship Experience (PIIE). Please visit our website for qualifications, descriptions, and information on how to apply to this and other internships.

Position Title:
Member Engagement and Non Profit Admin Intern

Host Organization:
YMCA of Northern Colorado-Boulder

Description
You'll assist with the check in and/or out for day camp kiddos and families, helping us keep everyone happy and safe. You will be part of FUNDAY carnivals and assist with group organization at our pool. You will also choose from a list of projects in our youth development programs, front desk membership team, HR team, Marketing team or with our aquatics/sports staff for a deeper understanding of how our non profit works.

All interns will have regular meetings with senior staff and our Executive Management Team. In addition, you'll interface directly with our C-suite and leadership staff about their own job paths, what they look for in entry level staff and the future of our Y, YUSA and the international YMCA movement.

You want to make a positive difference in the lives of many. You are an organized problem-solver who has ideas and the skills to turn those ideas into realities. You have grace and gumption, strength and endurance (metaphorically speaking) and a whole lot of awesome.
You are a communicator, diplomat and social butterfly. You love being around people, but you are not a "people pleaser." Instead, you can implement and enforce rules fairly and assertively, handle member complaints with poise and grace, and show respect, compassion and positivity in any situation.
You crave an environment that fosters positivity, creativity, teamwork, and hard work. You are comfortable with -- nay, you love -- implementing policies, organization and scheduling.
You are detail oriented and proactive; you notice the fingerprints on the windows and you get them wiped away before others see them.
You understand that the Y is not just a gym and the people who come through our doors are not just members. They are a community of like-minded individuals who see the Y as a second home, as a second family. You know that at the end of the day, this job ensures people have a supportive, inclusive place to help them reach their goals and stay connected with others. And you can't wait to get started.
