Description
Our beautiful YMCA overnight camp is nestled in the Rocky Mountains near Grant, CO. We have 45 staff serving up to 150 campers, ages 6 to 16. We are looking for an intern who is capable of capturing the spirit of camp on a through, on social media. Our Media Specialist (Photo) is responsible for the visual, virtual representation of our camp. The Media Specialist (Photo) is expected to take a minimum of 150 high quality pictures of campers and activities per day. A minimum of 150 photos per day will be uploaded to the Bunk1 site for parents. The Media Specialist (Photo) in conjunction with Media Specialist (Video) is also responsible for the camp's social media presence and will post at least 1 "photo of the day". This will include editing photos and videos to post on our various social media pages. They will also save back "Best of Photo" for marketing purposes. They will work with our directors to ensure that the appearance of YMCA Camp Santa Maria is every bit as life changing as it is in person!
This position requires you live at camp. Room and board are included and summer PIIE stipend available.  Training begins May 22.
Essential Functions
  • Take 150 photos daily of campers and camp activities and upload them to Bunk1.com for parents to view.
  • Save 500 best of pictures for marketing purposes
  • Maintain a professional online presence for YMCA Camp Santa Maria through social media and other platforms.
  • Work with the YMCA of Northern Colorado Marketing team on special projects and provide ideas.
  • Supports camp daily, weekly and seasonally as an engaged member of planning and meeting sessions with the Camp Santa Maria support staff team.
  • May live with campers and help with supervision ratio.
  • Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events with the support staff team.
  • Models' relationship-building skills for campers and staff.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
Qualifications
  • 18 years old.
  • One to two years related experience preferred.
  • Experience with photoshop and video editing and a wide range of equipment.
  • Must have a valid US driving license.
  • Completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff, Staff Training, WFA, CPR, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens. Lifeguard certification is a plus.
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
Preferred Skills
Experience in resident camp preferred.
Physical Demands
Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. Camp life can be physically and emotionally challenging. You will be asked to function at 8200 ft of elevation, in a variety of summer mountain weather ranging from snow to highs in the 90's with potential strong thunderstorms. On an average day you will walk 3-5 miles.
