Description

This position offers assistance to the City of Boulder’s Parks and Recreation Department Senior Communications Program Manager with storytelling, digital media (photos and videos), and projects in support of the Parks and Recreation Department’s programming, events, and community outreach activities. Work is a mix of the City of Boulder’s needs and the intern’s interests and career goals. You will learn how municipal government works, including the Communication and Engagement Department and the Parks and Recreation Department. This position will include both on-site and remote work. A specific schedule will be determined in collaboration with the successful candidate and the Senior Communications Program Manager. Duties and Responsibilities: • Create and write stories for internal and external audiences • Shoot photos and video for use in city storytelling • Assist with the planning and creation of content for the department’s social media outlets and external e-newsletters • Learn how the City of Boulder government and the Parks and Recreation Department operate • Assist with special projects, program and event set up, staffing, and other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Self-motivated and able to work independently • Experience taking photos and posting to social media • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel • Experience with Facebook and Instagram • Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history.
