Internship Title: Digital Content Intern 

Host Organization: City of Boulder - Communication and Engagement Department

The City of Boulder’s Communication and Engagement Department is seeking a motivated and versatile intern to assist with social media, web content and all forms of digital communication in support of the City of Boulder organization. The city has been recognized nationally for its innovative use of social media and the web to serve the community. This is an exciting opportunity to build your portfolio and gain experience with a government that leverages both new and traditional communication platforms to engage its community. 
 

The City of Boulder’s Digital Content Intern will support digital content planning and creation for the city’s website and social media channels. Day-to-day tasks may include creating social media, web content, and multimedia; assisting with editorial planning; photography at special events; and supporting the development of creative digital campaigns to promote city events, programs and services. 

 

Qualifications: Pursuing or obtained a degree in communications, media, journalism, visual communication, web design or related field. Basic understanding and comfort with using social media platforms, web-based content publishing tools, and best practices for content creation and scheduling. Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to create clear, engaging, and error-free content. Acute attention to detail and organization. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Strong time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects at once, prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to engage a variety of stakeholders and speak and listen to diverse viewpoints. An independent, proactive attitude and ability to work well alone or as part of a team. Willingness and ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as requested. Ability to manage confidential or sensitive information.

 

The ideal candidate for this position is an organized and creative self-starter with strong interest in learning about how city governments use their digital communication channels to interface with the public; interested in digital storytelling and is comfortable creating web and social media content.
